A Jamaican delegation headed by Film Commissioner Renee Robinson will leave for the German capital on 19 February to attend the “Berlinale”, one of the world’s largest and most important film festivals expected to attract again close to a half million film lovers, more than 15.000 industry representatives like producers and distributors as well as around 3700 journalists from all over the world.  This year the event will kick off on 20 February and will close on 1 March.  (https://www.berlinale.de/en/home.html) . Jamaica is attending the festival for a second time with a delegation, as Ms. Robinson explained in her meeting with ambassador, with the particular aim to identify international partners for its own emerging film industry and to access available sources of funding for it like the “World Cinema Fund” which was created in 2004 by the German federal government though its Cultural Foundation (Kulturstiftung des Bundes) and the organizers of the Berlin International Film Festival.
