Recently the Chancellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Kingston, Mr. Helmut Domas, handed over a commercial capacity dryer and washing machine to “Sophie’s Place”  a home run by Mustard Seeds Communities (MSC). The appliances were procured through funds from the micro projects budget of the embassy. In total the embassy’s sponsoring  amounted to around 1.5 million Jamaican Dollar.

Over the years, MSC has benefited from several other contributions by the embassy which usually ask for an own contribution by the local project partner.

In this case, MSC contributed by identifying and renovating a new wash room for the home and installing all the necessary new electrical circuits and receptacles. As their  environmentally “ green” contribution MSC ensured that the new washer and dryer are powered by LPG which also reduces their JPS monthly bill. Thereby “catching two birds with one stone” as they say.
